Mass Spectrometry Group at HKBU

Research Interests:
  1. Fundamentals and applications of
    • Mass spectrometry;
    • Nanospray ESI-MS;
  2. GC-, LC- and CE-MS for environmental, biological, pharmaceutical and Chinese medicinal analyses;
  3. Trace analysis of dioxins and other persistent organic pollutants.
MS Instrumentation:
  1. a. Applied Biosystem PE Sciex Q-Star Pulsar i (Quadrupole-Time of Flight) coupled with Agilent Cap-HPLC 1100
    • Equipped with ESI, APCI and Nano-spray sources
    • Capable of performing MS/MS and high-resolution MS analyses
  2. AutoSpec-Ultima double focusing magnetic-sector mass spectrometer couple with GC and auto-sampler
    • Equipped with EI, CI and FAB ionization sources
    • Capable of performing high-resolution ultra-trace analysis of dioxins, dioxin-like PCBs, PBDEs and PBDD/Fs
  3. Autoflex MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometer (Bruker Daltonic)
    • Equipped with standard delay-ion extraction and reflectron mirror
    • Capable of performing post-source decay measurement
  4. Quadrupole GC/MS (Agilent 5975B series GC/MSD)
    • Equipped with EI, CI and FAB ionization sources
    • Capable of performing trace analysis of dioxins, dioxin-like PCBs, PBDEs and PBDD/Fs
  5. Esquire 4000 ion-trap LC/MSn (Bruker Daltonic)
    • Equipped with ESI and APCI ionization sources
  6. Acquity UPLC-triple quadrupole MS (Waters)
    • Equipped with ESI and APCI ionization sources
